There are so many discouraging things in this world, from draining family members to toxic co-workers you have to see almost every day. That toxicity weighs you down. It’s not that you stopped loving your craft; it’s that negativity has been orbiting around you, dimming your passion little by little. And sometimes, it’s not your fault.
I’ve been around toxicity, but I advocated for myself because sometimes no one else would. Now, I’m happier than I ever was in the past. And maybe I could be happier, but I won’t know that until I move forward on my journey.
I want to give you hope: you will be happy again.
DRAINAGE
Happiness is your right. Happiness is your greatest power. Sometimes, when happiness is stripped, your passion disappears as well.
If it’s a friend robbing you of your happiness, it’s because they’re chasing joy they once had. Other times, it’s simply because they can’t stand to see you joyful when they think you don’t deserve it.
WHAT’CHA SEE IS WHAT’CHA GET
It’s not easy to remove toxicity from your life, especially if it’s a family member. When you’re born into a family, you expect to be loved unconditionally and never be made to feel as though you’re a burden. Sometimes, a family member can be toxic not because they want to, but because they’re bottling negativity and transferring it onto you.
It could be negative emotions or negative thoughts.
You might be wondering, “What does this have to do with passion?”
Well, in How to Accept Criticism Without Losing Confidence, I tell you as someone who is creative, you absorb negativity because creatives are often sensitive. When you soak up that negativity like a sponge, you can lose your passion for writing, dancing, acting, designing or whatever creative path you choose.
When you’re a creative, the loss of passion can bleed into every area of your life. This feeling can happen to anyone, but if you’re pursuing some form of creativity, it’s more than likely you need your spark of passion.
LOSING CONTROL
It can feel like crashing after drinking three cups of caffeine, only this crash doesn’t wear off. It lingers. Now, I don’t drink coffee, but I’ve had similar crashes. So I’m going to give you the knowledge I’ve gained over the past seven years.
Like before, I told you that getting rid of the harmful source in your life is difficult, but it really is necessary. It’s called toxic for a reason, but if you need another word for toxic, try: dangerous, negative, or destructive. Whichever word rings a bell for you.
Before we press delete and remove the source, we need to know what or who it is.
This is when your intuition comes into play. You know that dip in the pit of your stomach that you feel when someone says or does something? If you said yes or anything along the lines of it, then that’s your intuition. You’re listening to your intuition, which is a start, but you’re afraid that it will steer you wrong.
I’m here to tell you that it won’t.
Your intuition is there to protect you. This is your body, and it knows your limits more than anyone, so for goodness' sake, listen to it.
REBORN
We’ve gone over your intuition plenty of times and why it’s there. If you read this blog as well as the others, your passion will eventually come back. This isn’t the end of your journey, so if you lose your spark, don’t panic.
This is your reminder that it’s still there, it’s just buried beneath all that gunk.
It’s your turn to tell me, did this speak to you? Let me know in the comment section below. If you have your own remedies to reignite your passion, feel free to share those. You never know who it’ll help.
